On Friday, April 25th, hundreds of colorful cats and dogs will be coming to Richmond yet not a paw will hit the streets. That’s because nationally known artist, Jody Wright, will be bringing her colorful companion animal paintings to an exhibition that’s called, "Flora, Fauna, Fabulous and FUN!"

Jody Wright paints the personalities of companion animals, many of whom she finds in animal adoption centers. The artist may see a dog in rich purples or a kitten in soft pastel pinks and blue. Looking beyond the fur, the artist looks to the animal’s rich and colorful soul.

She will be exhibiting and selling many of the original canvases that were used in her new book, "50 Secrets Humans Should Know", so it’s an opportunity to not only have an original painting that is in a published book, but also a signed presentation by the artist that includes the charming petite book by Peter Pauper Press.

In addition to companion animals, Jody will also be showing her work with florals, women and men (including Einstein and Mark Twain), and fabric collage collections.OPENING NIGHT is Friday April 25th from 6-9 p.m. (Exhibition runs through May 24th). It will be a night filled with not only companion animal paintings, but is a joint showing with her sculptor husband, Carl Wright, who will also be exhibiting his fine hand-sculpted abstract alabaster stone sculptures. Carl’s work is included in collectors’ homes and corporate collections from California to Zug, Switzerland.

It’s an opportunity to meet a husband and wife artist team and discuss what they were thinking when they painted or sculpted each piece! They will share their lives and their love of art.
